Neck Pain, Headaches, Jaw Pain

Our increasingly sedentary and mentally demanding lives will often lead to neck pain, headaches, and jaw (TMJ) complaints.

We take an inclusive approach from pelvic alignment to shoulder function, neck positioning and jaw range of motion to ensure that any contributing dysfunction is addressed.

Treatment may include trigger point massage, spinal and/or extremity joint manipulation, low force activator adjustments, stretches and pterygoid (jaw) muscle release as required.

Exercises and lifestyle adjustments will also be prescribed to ensure a lasting recovery is made.

Back Pain

Acute, subacute and chronic back pain affects almost everyone at some time, causing restricted movement and untold misery, stress and discomfort.

The bones of your spine (vertebrae) protect the spinal cord, and the joints that allow freedom of movement between each set of vertebrae are crucial in maintaining a healthy spine. If they lose their normal motion or position, this can not only cause local pain but irritate nerves that then travel throughout the body, and accelerate degeneration of intervertebral discs and spinal joint surfaces.

Chiropractic focuses on identifying and correcting individual joints and areas of the spine that have lost normal movement and alignment, therefore reducing pressure around the spinal cord or nerves and restoring normal function.

Muscle imbalances also play a vital role in this process, and we routinely test for proper muscle activation and tone to ensure that not only will any joint changes be sustained but that the likelihood of future injury is reduced.

Shoulders, hips, knees, ankles...

We are both ACC accredited for both spinal and extremity injuries and are experienced in a wide range of shoulder/rotator cuff, elbow, wrist, hip, knee ankle and foot complaints.

We can provide the appropriate mobilisation and adjustments for any involved joints, in addition to soft tissue treatment for associated muscular involvement.

Applied Kinesiology and Nutrition

Applied Kinesiology is a system that evaluates structural, chemical and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing with other standard methods of diagnosis. This method of evaluation is known as the “Total Body Concept” or the “Triad of Health”.

The different therapies that Brooke Roughan uses to correct the imbalances and improperly functioning systems include cranial techniques, various myofascial therapies, clinical nutrition, joint manipulation or mobilisation, dietary management, lifestyle changes, exercise and various neurological reflex therapies.
